      Tour Details

      Valley Ridge Trek is an easy trek offering distant views of snowy mountains and an idea of what typical Nepali countryside life and ethnic culture looks like. This Valley Ridge trekking is best suited for those who are traveling with children, families, students and do not have enough time for longer treks into the high mountains. Our Valley Ridge trek starts just an hour’s drive from Kathmandu City. The Trek leads through the hills, facing to the north-east of Langtang Himalayan Range with the magnificent views of the mountains. Namobuddha, Nala, Panauti, Dhulikhel adds cultural taste to the trek with interesting Newari settlements rich in architecture.


      Guidelines!

      • A travel insurance policy that covers medical treatment is recommended for all tourists.
      • Similarly, we recommend you to make sure that the insurance covers activities such as trekking, rafting etc. that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal
      • Getting special vaccinations are not necessary when visiting Nepal.
      • We still recommend that you consult with your physician regarding special immunizing against any tropical disease.
      • We recommend that you undertake training programs to be physically fit if you plan to go high-altitude trekking or mountaineering when you’re visiting Nepal.
      • Please make sure that salads and fruits are washed with purified water or peeled when eating out.
      • Beware of food that has been kept out in the open for long.
      • Always make sure that your water is clean by opting for boiled and then cooled water, treated water or sealed water from reputed brand.
      • Always carry a bottle of water when trekking or venturing off away from the city/ town.
      • Always carry and use mosquito repellant when in Terai region or during summers

      Day 1,Drive to Sundarijal (45 mins) and Hike to Chisapani (5 hours, 2200m)

       

      After early breakfast, we drive to Sundarijal. It is a busy picnic spot of the valley-dwellers on public holidays. Lush greenery, sources of water and serene environment greet us as soon as we reach there. From here, our hike to Chisapani starts. Walking through a few settlements and a lot of forest with variety of birds and chances of sighting animals, we arrive at Chisapani. There is an added fun of having packed lunch on the way. The total duration of the hike is nearly five hours.

      Chisapani is a Sherpa village, offering grand views of the mountains. Relieve yourself in the evening by watching a picturesque sunset from the village, and retire to a teahouse to spend the night.

      Day 2,Trek to Nagarkot (6-7 hrs, 2156m)

       

      We get up in the morning, have our breakfast and head towards Nagarkot from Chisapani. This is a relatively demanding day that requires you to walk for about 6-7 hours. But the trail passes mostly through dense forest of the national park, making you forget the tiredness. We pause our hike for a while in Chauki Bhanjyang or Jhule to have lunch and take a short rest.

      Then, we continue along the idyllic countryside to Nagarkot, a hilltop town to the east of Kathmandu offering unmatched scenery of innumerable peaks of a large section of the Himalayas. Seeing the setting sun leave different shades of colors over the snow-capped Himalayas is sure to fire your spirit and inspire your imagination. In the evening, stay in a good hotel of the area.

      Day 3,Nagarkot Sunrise Tour and trek to Dhulikhel (5-6 hours)

       

      After watching the spectacular sunrise from Nagarkot from where Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Everest and several other peaks can be seen, you have breakfast. You start by hiking down through a pine forest, paddy fields and small villages where you see the local village people going about their daily chores. It also offers amazing views of the mountains and beautiful landscapes of the valley.

      Reaching Dhulikhel, this ethnic Newar town offers a traditional atmosphere along with spectacular views of the Himalayas. Walking around the old part of this town you can find some fine old Nepalese buildings and several interesting temples.

      Day 4,Trek (4.5 hrs) to Namobuddha Monastery, Panauti Village and drive back to Kathmandu

       

      After breakfast, we hike 3 hrs to Namobuddha Monastery and explore the grounds. We can meditate, attend morning Puja (ritual) ceremony and talk to Ani (Woman Monk) about their ways of life and Buddhism.

       

      Namo Buddha Monastery is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Nepal, with its Stupa and the Tiger’s Den. Namo Buddha is a 30 minute scenic walk through the pine forest from the resort. It is believed the ancient Buddha was born here as a prince. The Buddha Shakyamuni selflessly sacrificed to feed a starving tiger with his own flesh. Located at the top a hill, it overlooks important towns like Dhulikhel, Banepa and the scenery is a sight to behold. We can also get a chance to see amazing views of the Himalayan range including Gaurishankar Himal on a clear day.

       

      After lunch, we continue our hike to Panauti. It takes about 1.5 hrs through beautiful landscapes, local villages, houses and paddy fields. Sightseeing of Panauti and drive back to Kathmandu (1hr) to end the tour.

       

      Panauti is a thriving village with some old houses and lovely temples, some of which have particularly fine 14th century carving. Visit 800 year old Hindu Shrine of Indreshwor temple and its wood carving shapes. Along the river bank, we can see the Sun God ‘Surya’, Moon God ‘Chandra’ and statues of Lord Bishnu (preserver of the universe according to Hindu mythology).
