There is no better way to understand Nepal and Nepali people , than through nepalese food. Nepali food isn’ t limited distinct cooking style , the food habits varies according to the different regions. Regular Nepali meal is bhat ( rice) , dal (lentil soup) and tarkari ( vegetable curries) acquainted by aachar ( spicy pickle) and some salad. Veg and Non- veg is served as per personal taste. And their vegetable soup named aloo tama ( made of potato and bamboo shoot) is worth trying for its sensational tinglings in our mouth. 

The himalayan restaurants serves from freshly caught river fish to dried smoky meats of himalayan goat, yak and chauris. The yak cheese is very popular not only in the country but is exported to other countries as well. From organic farm vegetables and herbs to crunchy mountain apples, from home brewed spirits to beautiful selection of teas, there a whole lot waiting for palate to discover. 

 

Nepali Art ,Craft and Creations

 

Nepal has plethora temples and historical palaces bestowed with art and crafts, music and war histories. Traditional skills like wood – carving have been handed down for centuries in the Kathmandu Valley. Exquisite handicrafts flourish in Nepal, from hand woven dhaka shawls and pashmina, from artistic silver and metal ware to stone carvings, wood works and paintings, there is something magical in the hand crafted products which carry skills that have been passed down generations to retain their authentic traditional roots. Stone masonry, pottery and thanka painting skills of the artisans that have been here from centuries is a craft that you cannot find elsewhere in the world. From the very typical households to melting iron for making the world famous knife Khukuri, Nepalese artists are masters when it comes to their craft. Nepal is famous for carpets, Thangka ( painting of Gods) Newari wood carving , Himalayan Nepalese paper, tibetan handicraft, Buddhist and Hindu statues, Mithila wall art, bamboo knitted umbrella, and for its indigenously crafted household items which are readily available from stores to street shops and emporiums.
