Campaigning to stop construction of Nijgadh Airport

Our company’s founder Mr. Bharat Basnet along with other environmental activists and civil society members launched a campaign to stop government construction of Nijgadh airport encroaching forest land that could have led to felling of 2.2 million trees and signal an environmental disaster for the diversity and wildlife of the area and wider ecosystem. The government wanted to construct an airport destroying a beautiful, thick, untouched forest at a time when forest coverage in Nepal is decreasing alarmingly and pollution of all genres have infested every nook and cranny of Nepal. Our founder filed a writ petition at the supreme court that led to an issuance of an interim order to stop all activities of construction of the airport till the case is resolved. We have taken this as a positive step towards fighting corruption at the expense of the environment. The role of our founder as been instrumental as he has been knocking the door of the top court for about 1.5 years trying to intervene in the project. You can find a newspaper article regarding the Supreme Court decision below
